WI THUNDER FASTPITCH

Overview

WI Thunder Fastpitch is a program based out of New Richmond, WI and designed for competitive, passionate players from western Wisconsin area who are self-motivated and serious about their skill development and is ready to compete at the GOLD level. Player development will focus on improving their game physically and mentally through year-round training opportunities. Program goal is to help players go above and beyond to not only achieve but exceed their individual goals and empower players by building confidence. Players are expected to give 110% every practice, every game, every workout and be a selfless, positive energy encouraging all teammates and players in the program.

Academic Expectations

This program is not only passionate about the sport of fastpitch, but values academics as well. The classroom is expected to be a priority.

Commitment

This program has an expectation of being 110% committed from all parents and players. Gold level competition does require higher level commitment all year round to keep skills fine-tuned. Commitment outside of team practices is expected, especially if a player does need to miss a practice/game. Players will need to make up that time on own, and coaches will help put a plan in place to keep player’s development growing if this happens!

This program does support multi-sport athletes during the off season (September 1st-March 15th), and we will accommodate the current “in-season” school sport schedules. However, active commitment is expected to be a priority, with the expectation of commitment to attend Thunder team practices, games etc. when there isn’t a conflict. We believe there can be a balance without jeopardizing player development and causing regression, as well as finding that balance to accommodate those players where fastpitch is their only sport and having enough players available to participate in some off-season competitions. Balance is key!

HS Fastpitch Season – March 15th-June 10th

Teams will break during HS season. Individual training will be expected. Games/Practices resume June 1st. Players ”playing up” are encouraged to watch their HS teams to continue the mental development part of the game. Can learn A LOT though observation. During this time, those trained in umpiring can work 10U/12U games during this time $$.

Leadership

Players will have some unique opportunities/expectations to truly help develop player's leadership skills. Youth coaching will help take players to the next level of learning the game. They are not only learning more about the game of fastpitch, but gaining life skills like leadership, composure, integrity, and how to handle being a little “uncomfortable” in a situation and overcoming it.

Each player will be expected to help provide some coaching assistance for younger age groups through clinics, development programs, etc. Coaching young athletes puts players on the other side of the skill development process. They not only learn how to explain and teach someone else the skills they have worked hard to develop, but they also feel the reward of giving back to younger athletes that are working hard to follow their footsteps.

Team Bonding

Players will be expected to respect, encourage, and support every player on the team with an overall goal of achieving a sisterhood amongst the team, and adhere to acts of selflessness. When you create a positive team dynamic amongst both Parents and Players, team success is greater!

Team Formation/Positions/Playing Time

Teams will be created based on strongest skillset ready to play at Gold Level (Level above Tri-County A). Offense will be priority during assessments, Pitcher/Catcher very close 2nd, Outfield skills will rank higher than Infield. Positions played will be decided by coaches. For example, a player may have played 2nd base their entire life thus far, but if the player has phenomenal outfield tracking skills, they may likely become an outfielder. Positions filled will be based on what will make the team the best defensive team and players are expected to be open minded to where they play.  100% fair playing time is not guaranteed. Players will however receive adequate playing time throughout the year. 12U are not eligible. 13 player max teams.
